The tale ends here, as The Return of Bruce Wayne reaches its climatic issue. To me, this was a story that needed to be finished. I guess some readers want to see other characters take up the Batman outfit, but I’m old school, and it seems every handful of months or years when someone replaces Bruce as Batman I suddenly have lapses in my Batman collection. In this finishing issue, I found the first few pages of Grant Morrison’s script confusing and convoluted, though a reread has helped quite a bit. An ambitious end, to be sure, which overstretched itself—which is kind of like saying comics need to be more like Jane Eyre. Still, without giving away the actual ending, I’ll say that I enjoyed the comic. It has Bruce Wayne, so how can I not?
