Deadpool #44 (2012)

$6.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn (A) Salva Espin (CA) Guisseppe Cammuncoli

First: Deadpool let loose in an oil field!
Then: Deadpool & Shiklah enter the Tomb of Scariness!
Guest-starring Omega Red and damned dirty bamfers! Parental Advisory

Date Available: 03/25/2015
BONUS REVIEW by Gavin Rehfeldt

Only one more issue left until Deadpool nudge-nudge wink-winks! Whereas Wolverine's nudge-wink felt rushed and contrived, the long-term story threads heading into the series conclusion feel weighted with emotion and point towards placing among the finer comic series finales. Two years ago, could anyone foresee that kind of storytelling would be in service of Deadpool, the Merc with the Mouth? Best of all, the funny is maintained throughout, never compromising DP's established appeal. Shikla, Mrs. Deadpool, gets great moments of humor and intensity as always, proving herself to be Deadpool's Talia Al Ghul (If Talia and Batman actually got married. No wonder I'm obsessed with her!), alternating comfortably between sultry appeal and ugly menace. Who is going to nudge our hero to his great burrito in the sky? This issue raises many possibilities while also being a captivating transition between the previous arc and the EPIC ending to come. This ongoing will be much missed.

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
