VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Funny store about this issue.
Jamie went on vacation, probably somewhere like Hilton Head or something, anyway I had to decide what books to reorder that we had just sold out on.
At this point there were only two locations, Naperville and Downers Grove.
Reorders were normally something Jamie did in 1988, so I was winging it putting together the reorders as well as running the shop on my own when he was gone.
I really can't for the life of me recall why I thought 50 copies was a good idea, I like Deadshot fine, and yes, BATMAN was on the cover to help sell it (but remember this was before the first BATMAN MOVIE and the wave of BATMAN mania) and Luke McDonnel while having an interesting style was also a very divisive style with people either loving or hating it.
After putting out this massive stack of Deadshot #1 RESTOCK I realized I'd screwed up - but, amazingly, and this happened with other mistakes as well, we ended up eventually selling all of them over time.
By the time issue #3 hit we were down to just a couple copies on the rack.
There's no reason so many people were willing to try this book, yet the timing was evidently just right and it kept selling!
Anyway, I can't help but think of that every time I see this cover. Bet that helped you not at all in deciding whether or not to buy this issue.
