BONUS REVIEW by John "Doc" Schaefer

It is no secret that I am not a fan of this book. I have used such descriptive terms as bastach abomination of the classic heroes of DC's past and messed up opposite day in the Alex Ross universe. That being said, issue #11 is a step above the usual bungle job this book spits out. Doctor Fate returns to us and James Robinson has managed to work many of the classic Doctor Fate plot points into this new version. Jay Garrick's character is starting to turn back to his past. His concern and love for his mother mirrors the real Jay Garrick's family concerns. Evil sorcerer Wotan and classic Doctor Fate villian Wotan is back and the Flash is again at the heart of the not yet formed JSA. The subplot of the New Gods return continues and Nicola Scott's art is quite well done. While I will probably never love this book, I hope that classic Golden Age fan James Robinson can get us back to a place we can all tolerate. Good luck John, for the sake of all Golden Age fans everywhere.

I give it 6 out of 10 Grahams
