For over 25 years, the CBLDF has fought to protect your right to read, and that crusade continues with this light-hearted look at a serious topic. Defend Comics is a sampler of the great YA comics available, and explores the censorship of comics with some of today's most talented creators! Writers on Defend Comics include Andi Watson, Gene Yang, George O'Connor, Dan Parent, Larry Marder and Jorge Aguirre, with art by Watson, Sonny Liew, O'Connor, Parent, Marder, and Rafael Rosado.
Date Available: 05/02/2015
BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

While I love the idea of the books that help the CBLDF, Hero Initiative, and the like, the anthology formats used are often full of short, ham-fisted free speech analogies. With no room to breathe, they can die. It can be frustrating to see creators who clearly have something to say about the subject fall short or fail, even with good intentions. That's why the Archie story in 'Defend Comics' is so good, and maybe even important. In just 6 pages you get a specific timely topic being covered as well as an overview of what it is that the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund does. This is really solid work for Dan Parent. The rest of the book didn't do much for me, but as the book says, if I don't like it, I don't have to read it.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
