They're wrong, and must not have been reading closely over such major stories as Chinatown and An Occasion of Revenge. Eric Powell has always used love-either the lack of it, the abuse of it, the need for it- as the thing lifting the Goon up or beating him down. Written like someone who's only had heartbreak, drawn like someone who's trying to get God's attention, Eric Powell puts a fairly definitive stamp on this particular chapter of his creation.
