BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

Can the worlds of super violent criminals and period pulp heroes mix? They absolutely can in this bloody lollapalooza from writer/artist Matt Wagner. If you're younger, imagine a Nemesis/Batman crossover, and you should get the idea. Booze and crime are running hand in hand. The Shadow realizes that w/ the end in sight for prohibition, the criminal element is going to get worse as they claw for any last scraps before alcohol is legal again. What would happen if someone smarter, someone far more malevolent was introduced into this world? Shadow fans should appreciate exactly how this meeting comes to be. I'm not as high on Wagner's artwork as I used to be. It can look hurried, like there's more concern put into the ideas than the way they're presented, but he seems a bit rejuvenated here- say somewhere between Mage and Mage II. If you're a fan of the Shadow or Grendel, you won't be disappointed. If you're a fan of both, you're in for a real treat. Read it for your self and see....I wouldn't want you to think I'd clouded your mind....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
