Kanan #5

$19.99
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Greg Wiesman (A/CA) Pepe Larraz
Caleb Dume is at his rope's end. Will he survive long enough to become Kanan? Rated T
Date Available: 08/19/2015
BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

Kanan's first arc wraps up w/ betrayal, rejection, dismissal, and punching. All important in life to be sure (and a part of any healthy breakfast) but the punching is the key element here. Not nearly the kid friendly series it promised to be, every-but-one-thing that could go wrong for Caleb Dume does. There's an act of kindness (done in the form of betrayal) that there's no way he can ever be aware of. That lack of information most certainly tips him towards full dismissal of his past, the force, and general manners. Pepe Larraz's art seems a little rushed compared to the previous issues. I know he's got someone filling in for him next month. The notes, the movements, the storytelling in the layouts- they all still shine. It will be nice to see him rested in October. Strong first arc, better than expected on every front, and easily recommended.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
