BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

The current volume of Ultimate Spider-Man has a distinction from all previous incarnations: So far, its not very good. Everything feels like a pale reflection of the good work done by Bendis and co. in the past. We have Norman Osborn back (again) to show up at Aunt May's house (again) while Peter may or may not be alive when believed to be dead...(wait for it) again. David Marquez makes it all look ok, but only ok, and weaker than every artist who's come before him on any version of the book. I don't know if Bendis is spread too thin right now, if the rumored end to the Ultimate universe has him less interested, or if he's just seeing if he can pull old pages from earlier scripts and combine them together the way David Bowie constructs song lyrics. If that's it, he can't. If its one of the other two, a quick death to all things 'Ultimate' is starting to seem like a good idea.

I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams
