Don't miss the start of this new miniseries set in the world of Wonder Woman from writer/actor Kevin Grevioux (New Warriors, Underworld). Years before the birth of Princess Diana, a group of Amazons set out on a globe-spanning quest to find others of their kind, encountering legendary creatures and beings along the way. But their journey soon turns into a rescue mission as two of their own are captured by the legendary Storm Giants of Norse mythology. It's up to their leader, the stalwart Hessia, to keep them together through the many trials that lie ahead. RATED T

An interesting look at the early Amazons done in a tradition quest tale. We have foes from distant lands to battle, friends from distant lands to join the Amazonian Sisterhood, challenges of unseen enemies and bad weather. I think my only real complaint is the level of in-fighting amounst the Amazons themselves. It is a more modern problem as way back in the day, rogue amazons usually turned into villians that Wonder Woman would defeat. In keeping with making comics more real, any group of warriors far from home and long into their journey would be bound to a little questioning of authority and flexing of muscle. Traditionally, the story must have some internal drama or it really doesn't work. However, in reading it a second time, I believe I've counted at least 4 different groups of Amazons forming. That's a lot for just the very first issue. Still, some good old fashion mythology here.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
