The lady in red took the words right out of my mouth when she said, “Wolverine. What are you doing here…?” And so opens the penultimate chapter in a series that should be so much better than it actually is. The artists and colorists work has improved here with the action being even more entertaining than prior entries with some really neat panels featuring heat vision a la Predator. Perhaps the heroes would have had an easier time infiltrating Shadowland had they decided to cover themselves in mud, but I digress. It should be noted that the term “heroes” is used rather loosely at this point too, bringing us to the only real disappointment found herein. This may be the most blood-thirsty group of white hats ever assembled. I haven’t wanted the black hats to win this much since dear old dad gave Luke a hand at the end of Empire Strikes Back. Yes, I went there. Here’s to hoping in the conclusion that good triumphs over evil and Matt finds some better friends!
I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
