You have to give credit to Robert Kirkman. He's become an industry unto himself. Much of that industry has been built on throwing curve balls. You think you know what's going to happen, but instead you get something different. Many times, this has meant awful awful things have happened (in comics, not life) to fairly nice people. Given that we were getting 2 issues this month to cover 'The Fair', and given that nothing bad happened to anyone who wasn't named Gregory, it seemed this issue was set to pop. Pop with some awfulness from the whisperers, pop with some good old fashioned human vs human tragedy, pop w/ Negan not liking how Rick spoke to him-you know the kind of thing I'm talking about. In the end, Kirkman has defied expectations again with an issue that's mostly talking, mostly calmly at that. Charlie Adlard's art looks mayybe a bit rushed, and the last page needed information from the letters page to clarify exactly what we're looking at. None of that should or will deter you. Almost 12 years worth of books now and still surprises to be had. That's to be commended.

Something bad is coming next issue though. Mark my words.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
