Godzilla Oblivion #1 (2016)

$5.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Joshua Hale Fialkov
(A) Brian Churilla
(CA) Graham Nakamura
A scientist has created a portal to another dimension-one where monsters rule supreme! A terrifying expedition begins into a world where hope has died and Godzilla is the unrivaled King of the Monsters. But what happens when a baby kaiju hitches a ride back to the original, monster-less dimension?
Date Available: 03/30/2016
BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

This is a tough one for me. Joshua Hale Fialkov gives the book a great, simple premise: There's a Japan without Godzilla that develops inter dimensional travel. They go to a Japan that does, and exactly what you'd expect happens. Why the low score then? The art. Brian Churilla's art is at times sketchy to the point of unfinished. It's all motion lines instead of detail, suggestion instead of scale. There are books this style would fit with (he has plenty of other work to show that), but not everyone can work on every book.

I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams
