Thumbprint #1

$4.50
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Joe Hill, Jason Ciaramella
(A/CA) Vic Malhotra
Private Mallory Grennan had done terrible things as an Abu Ghraib prison worker. After being discharged from the army, Mal thought she was leaving her sins behind to start a new life back home. But some things can't be left behind -- some things don't want to be left behind. By Joe Hill and Jason Ciaramella, the writing team that brought you the Eisner-award nominated one-shot, The Cape, with art by Vic Malhotra. Thumbprint will turn your guts inside out.
Date Available: 06/12/2013
BONUS REVIEW by John "Doc" Schaefer

In all honesty, I have never read Joe Hill's work on any kind of regular basis. With a new #1, I figured this would be the time. But it's not my cup of tea. The subject matter is uncomfortable at best and with the exception of the VFW scene (I've drunk with those guys back in the days.) there is no moment where the tension is cut. There is no one in this book (with the exception of the VFW drunk, Glen)that is even likeable. Now, that is not to say this is a bad book. Not being a reader of Hill's stuff, this might be exactly what his fans expect. I'm just saying that this is not for the uninitiated.

I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams
