VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Stan Lee & Various

When Stan Lee set the tone for the Marvel Age of Comics, it came with a healthy dose of humor. And when fans demanded more Marvel mayhem, Stan - along with Jack Kirby, Gene Colan and the Bullpen's mistress of mirth, Marie Severin - turned the dial to 11 and let loose! Presenting the masterpiece of Silver Age satire, packed with Marvel's greatest talents taking a sideways look at the heroes they made famous (and even some they didn't). Charlie America, Scaredevil, the Revengers, Sore: Son of Shmodin, the Sunk-Mariner and the one and only Forbush Man are coming at you. Duck! Collecting NOT BRAND ECHH (1967) #1-13; NOT BRAND ECHH (2017) #14; and material from AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL (1964) #1 and #5, DAREDEVIL ANNUAL (1967) #1, FANTASTIC FOUR ANNUAL #5, SGT. FURY ANNUAL #4 and AVENGERS ANNUAL #2. Rated T+
Date Available: 06/26/2019
BONUS REVIEW by "Doc" Schaefer

Before Scotty Young, before DCS children's line of comics with unusual versions of their heroes and villains interacting in childlike ways, before the 1980s What The?! comic, there was the now-classic Not Brand X! On a par with DC's Infamous Inferior 5 comic series, not Brand X straddled the company lines between Marvel, DC, and Independent with a satirical look at the universe of comic characters and their creators. Goofy slapstick mayhem flowed from the book like a mighty river in South America. No character, no, company was exempt from the satire that these creators threw out there. And what an amazing group of creators it was! Lead by such notable folks as Jack Kirby, Roy Thomas, Gene Colan, and the immortal Marie Severin, this book made a cultural icon Irving Forbush! Finding these terrific tales reprinted in one giant collection with sharper colors and new paper stock is a must-have. So secure your copy and join in the exploits The Mighty Sore, the Inedible Bulk, and Charlie America! If you like the parodies of the old Mad Magazine, this is for you. However, the best of the book is shown on page 349 which was deep into Issue #11! The best the late 60's could offer!

I give it 10 out of 10 Grahams
