While Morrison's foundation-setting time-hopping rough-edged take on the New 52 Superman may not have the fizz of his seminal All-Star Superman, he has produced a complex Superman story you won't find anywhere else. Like All-Star, Morrison's finale issue #18 uniquely deepens and defines what makes Superman interesting. Superman fights the impossible, including demonic invaders from the 5th Dimension, will suffer terribly, but, unlike anticipated Action scribe Andy Diggle, will never quit. The idea that Superman, a being of meta-fictional legacy, will always win is psychedelically underscored. Curious concepts and epic wonder fill these pages, but my favorite oddly powerful moment was the relatively unassuming cameos by this title's three talented creators: Morrison, Morales, and Sholly Fisch (the latter being an obvious candidate to take Diggle's place, IMHO).
