Captain America #1 (2012) has been added to your cart.
You know what the problem with being older than dirt is? You get to watch history repeat itself over and over again. And thus I watch Marvel Comics recreate Captain America for (if you use the volume system) the 7th time! *Spoiler alert* This time Cap has been kidnapped and sent into another dimension. Dimension Z - said in a sarcastic spooky voice. And while there he discovers Arnim Zola trying to create children. It is pretty obvious that someone was going through their Captain America 1st volume collection. Bam! Issue #202 - the good Captain is sent into another dimension (referred to as the dark dimension back then). Bam! Issue #211 (and various issues around this time) Arnim Zola is trying to create experimental human which he refers to as his children with names like Doughboy and Nazi-X. Heck, even the idea of Sharon being a little annoyed at Steve for being unable to keep an appointment is straight out of issue #202 page 16-17. (Granted, Sharon was a bit more of a headcase back then.) Add in a tragic look at Cap's abusive childhood, throw in a dash of Road Warrior/Wild Child - Lone Wolf/Cub and we are in the new Year 2012 Marvel Now universe! Not what I need in a Captain America book. Now, it has been pointed out to me that Marvel is trying to reintroduce a new generation to it's classic characters. What better way than with such classic story points than those developed during the wonderful Kirby years. Still, I can't run with that thought. Sorry!
