Reviews

Skybound's launch of the Energon Universe has been a nearly unquantifiable success. The amount of planning for the overlaps that have occurred across Void Rivals, Transformers, Duke, Cobra Commander, and Scarlett is overwhelming to process.

They knew they nailed it, well ahead of time. Before Void Rivals came out, we were able to read a mildly redacted copy of the first issue. They worked hard to maintain the surprise that there was an Autobot in that book (wait are you just hearing about this? Yes, Transformers starts in Void Rivals and volume 1 is a Graham Crackers Top 50 selling graphic novel). We got everything else though, and the book was excellent. Once the Decepti-cat was out of the Auto-bag, they sent us copies of Transformers. The first nine? issues, all complete. They sent us copies of Duke (so good!), they sent us copies of Cobra Commander (Cobra-La in continuity???Insane! Drednoks? Excellent!). They sent us copies of Scarlett (yes, again, SO GOOD! You're reading it right? You're not scared that there's a girl in a book, right? Sales for this excellent title are coming in lower than expected, let's move that needle, shall we?) All these titles swerve(d) in and out of each other like the Jetfire weaving between buildings. The gamble, the trust, the audacity Skybound had to release all of these stories early absolutely starscreamed 'THIS IS GOING TO WORK, WE CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO SEE WHAT WE'VE DONE!'

Advance copies of Destro were not made available to retailers before ordering. Please enjoy the above list as a series of highly recommended books.
