Star Trek, Star Trek…For trekkies, finally, the wait is over. IDW has gotten some new books out there, including this finely crafted one by John Byrne. It’s different, with more edge than the typical episodes on television, since the characters, new, and to some extent throwaways, are allowed to get themselves in deeper trouble, maybe even, I don’t know, killed. For this episode, the crew of the Ventura drop down on a planet that humans colonized long ago, but which nothing has been heard of in years. Refreshing to see the possibility of stark horror in the Star Trek universe…and arriving just in time for the latest Star Trek movie coming out this weekend. For Trekkies, like myself, hopefully it’s the dawn of a new generation of adventure.
