Teddy Altman thought he was just an average teenager with super strength and the ability to shapeshift. Then he discovered he was the son of a Skrull Princess and the Kree's most famed hero - Captain Marvel. Writer Brian Reed (CAPTAIN MARVEL, NEW AVENGERS: ILLUMINATI) and Harvey Tolibao (IRON MAN ANNUAL, STAR WARS) bring you the tale of the Hulkling's first meeting with the father he never knew.
"In this solo Young Avengers story (‘solo’ in the sense that it’s from the perspective of Hulkling, as the other YA’s do appear) Hulkling meets his pop, the newly-returned and always-boring Captain Marvel. What should be a big, emotional ‘father meets the son he never knew he had’ bit of melodrama instead, thanks to the aforementioned always-boring Cap, is unceasingly stilted and totally flat. It plays out in a way that makes Hulkling look like a whiny, needy teen and makes Cap look like a cold, unfeeling jerk. Which, I mean, if Cap turns out to be a Skrull or something (probably not, though) it’s a great piece of writing from Brian Reed. If Cap’s not a Skrull, though… then it’s how it reads now, which is as a badly written comic."
