(W) James Robinson (A) Yildiray Cinar, Rob Hunter (CA) Brett Booth, Norm Rapmund Captain Steel debuts as the World Army sends the hero into the Fire Pits left over from the war with Apocalypse, but even Earth 2's newest hero isn't ready for what is hidden within the burning reminders of the conflict that killed Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.  Ironicly, it isn't until internet rumors spread that Earth 2 is on it's way out that the title get a minor bump up. Captain Steel introduction stays pretty close to the original. And we have Robinson's usual shout outs to the Golden Age. (Jim Lockhart is the identity of the original Red Torpedo.) Hints are dropped of a Red Arrow and a Red Tornado character. And Hawkgirl's run in with the Earth 2 Batman was a much better intro to the character than his official intro in the Earth 2 annual. But it seems that it's too little, too late.
