BONUS REVIEW by John "Doc" Schaefer

Let me be perfectly honest, I have never liked this book since day one. When it was first announced, I was the first one in line to pick up my issue one. But this book was not what I was promised. And with issue 6, it still isn't. Troubled family man and ardent supporter of the hero legacy, Alan Scott is now floating around the either ala Alan Moore's Swamp Thing and then telling everyone to get lost? Strong family man Jay Garrick get dumped by his girlfriend in issue one and is now questioning his every move? Hawkgirl (no Hawkman here!?) a mysterious fugitive?! Al Pratt, the scruffy little engine that could, now a military tool that grows?! This is not even close to what was promised to us. This is quite simply taking Alex Ross's costume designs from Kingdom Come, fiddling with them a bit and then announcing that it is opposite day ala Spongebob Squarepants. For one brief moment during the last issue I thought I saw a gleam of hope for this title. But issue 6 has simply smashed that light to the ground and extinguished it! The only thing this book does is make me want to go out and buy some Justice League back issues for those classic JLA/JSA teamups!

I give it 2 out of 10 Grahams
