Jonathan Hickman should be a name that conjures words like… “genius”, “brilliant”, or maybe “Eisner award winner”. From Nightly News to Fantastic Four, Hickman wows readers with out of this world scenarios grounded with realistic characters and dialogue, making each one of his adventures an experience not found anywhere else. His last Image success, Red Wing, took readers into the time-traveling future. Here, we step into a dark, buried corner of the past where the greatest and worst scientific secrets are hatched and hidden. American History and Sci-Fi collide in this alternate/behind-the-scenes view of science and technology during the WWII era. I especially love the art by Nick Pitarra (Red Wing), which reminds me of Frank Quitely or Chris Burnham. The first issue had a fantastic twist which will make you sprint for this #2 issue! Hickman strives to produce a quality story, bringing you an original experience; not just in the plot or the twists, but even the pacing, layout, and presentation is just top notch. This is the type of brilliance expected when the name HICKMAN is on the cover.
