Ah Westerns…there are few genres with less wide spread appeal than the story of the town gripped with fear because its bureaucracy is rotten to the core and the white hat hero rides into town and saves the day. This is the perfect format for a Dare…wait, what? Admittedly, once I came to terms with Daredevil being dropped into this new arena far from skyscrapers I actually enjoyed the first chapter in this redemption saga. From a story stand point it being the first issue was notably slower, but promises to up the action in issues to come. The largest obstacle for a ‘devil fan will most likely be the art. There is relatively little darkness and almost no grime here, which was jarring at first, but is actually quite appropriate given it’s the bright, sunny desert. It’s almost refreshing. Almost. As much as I despised Diggle for making Matt into a murderer, to his credit he stuck around to clean up his own mess. It’s high time DD put his white hat back on.
