I always love stories where the fantastical is interwoven into regular life like its commonplace, so that was enough of a hook to get me interested in this book. Our main character is an orphan who moves his life across the country to live with a cousin after his mom’s death, and finds companionship in the town’s only vampire. Set in the 90’s, the book feels like your standard coming of age story with fantastical elements thrown in. The art is fun and the characters seem interesting, but the story seems like it’s trying to do too much all at once without explaining anything. This does make me want to come back for the second issue, but I wish more was given in the first.
