This issue works. Let's start with that, because maybe it shouldn't. This series starts after the events of AVP #1 (which was a confusing mess), features only unpleasant characters, and has an alien lead that can't (really) speak. The unpleasantness continues when our unpleasant captain uses his unpleasant crew for bait.


Why does it work? The art by Christopher Mooneyham, which somehow evokes the best of Klaus Janson's inking w/out the weakness of his pencilling. It looks great. Lastly, his predator looks like a predator, which is somehow a harder thing than it should be in comics. I don't know if its only going to be a book worth looking at, but its starting that way. That makes this a book worth checking out.
