In the far future, the man known only as Rook wants out. Rook Exodus, similar to the other Ghost Machine titles, is a simple, action-packed romp through an unfamiliar setting. Of the three series however, Rook is certainly my favorite. Johns’ writing is essentially the same in this title as the others; pretty good, but lacking more substance than you’d wish. I find myself finishing Rook very quickly, left with a feeling of “man, I wish something more happened”. What sets this series apart from Geiger and Redcoat is the art. Gary Frank and Bryan Hitch do well in their respective titles, but Jason Fabok just brings the art to a whole other level. Almost every page made me say to myself “Wow. This is good.” In summary, the writing is already pretty decent, but the art alone makes this series a worthy addition to your pull list.
