Rook is the dark horse among the Ghost Machine books as it was the first to be announced that wasn’t already slated to be released back when Ghost Machine was still Mad Ghost. It’s been an absorbing read and feels like a throwback to an era of science fiction that lasted very briefly in the early 2000s with movies like Titan A.E. and Treasure Planet and shows like Firefly. For those of a certain age, it might also bring back memories of Bionicle. To those who understand that reference, I salute you. To those who do not, read Rook. It’ll get you close enough.
