Ultimates #1 (2024)

Any fear over the lack of Jonathan Hickman on this book can be put to bed. Any fear that this might feel like Jeph Loeb Ultimates can be put to bed as well. The only sleeping child left to be tucked in is named Mark Millar. His Ultimates were the definitive team book during his tenure at Marvel. Pick him up, carry him upstairs, muss his hair, and pull the blanket over his shoulder.


I don't know who Deniz Camp is. I don't know who Juan Frigeri is. I do know what a superhero comic that recognizes things should be better than they are, and that maybe even 'the little people' have a responsibility in that- I know what THAT is, and that's this all day. This was a really pleasant surprise (especially considering that there's a 98% chance Marvel willed these creators into existence).
