'AGES,' PART 1 Wolverine promised Cyclops that X-Force would disband -- he lied. A secret society has resurrected En Sabah Nur, putting into motion events that will turn this age of heroes into an Age of Apocalypse! To hold them back, Wolverine and Archangel bring together Fantomex, Deadpool, and Psylocke to form The Uncanny X-Force! Stained by their history, they are the only ones capable of making the hard resolutions necessary. A band of likeminded friends and mercenaries set to one purpose, one big ugly task -- kill Apocalypse by any means. 32PGS.

BONUS REVIEW by KIRK JACKSON

I’m one of those guys who used to read the “x-books” back in the Claremont/Silvestri days and will pretty much only pick them up now if they’re on the level of Morrison’s “New X-Men” or Whedon’s Astonishing. Well this book could very well be the next one to live up to those titles. Upon first glance, Jerome Opena’s pencils are both realistic enough and dynamic enough to draw me directly into the book. Indeed they’re of a quality I think could be easily be partnered with writers like Brubaker or Bendis. Rick Remender is able to deftly handle such disparate characters as Deadpool and the mysterious Fantomex. They may both use a lot of gun-fu, but one is all wacky banter, while the other requires dialogue worthy of the coolest Tarantino film. Remender pulls both off beautifully. Add to this the X-Men’s favorite femme fatale, and the return of one their greatest villains and you have the makings of an “x-book” with huge potential. I’m not saying roll out the Eisner awards just yet, but keep your eye on this one!

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
