I saw the title, with the number “2” in it, and figured this whole series wasn’t expected to last decades. Can you imagine X-men Forever 2 #700? I guess Marvel must have sold a lot of comics under the X-men Forever flag, and marketing wanted to keep it close to that title, even when “X-men Forever and Ever” could've fit. It’s probably a fair guess that I don’t buy X-men often. The truth is because they aren’t like this issue. For instance, it has a few of my favorite X-men characters, Cyclops and Jean Grey and Rogue, matched to one of my all-time favorite artists, Tom Grummett. I see him as two John’s (Byrne and Buscema) rolled into one. Claremont writes it, too, but he tones down the constant self-analysis by the characters, which is good. This issue is the standard stay-out-of-sight, everyone-hates-mutants issue, but Spiderman makes a long and very entertaining appearance, so who can say no? If you love the X-men from the ‘80’s, this issue is for you.
