"Hard to believe there’s already been 207 issues X-Men Legacy, isn’t it? Ha ha! Jokes are great! No, not really. Not great like this new X-Men book is. (Not to be confused with ‘New X-Men’, which is cancelled.) X-Men Legacy has a concept that I literally could not have wanted to read about less. A retelling of classic/pivotal Xavier events, with a framing sequence starring Exodus and Amelia Voght. I mean, Jesus, were Rusty and Skids not available? Could you not find a way to fit in Maggot? But despite working against the creative inertia of that concept, Mike Carey, Scot Eaton and John Romita Jr. turned in a pretty readable X-Men comic here. There’s the perfect balance of flashback to framing, so neither gets boring, the ‘dual artist’ thing works great for readability, and the last page (while already given away by Marvel) bodes well for future issues. I don’t know that I’d want to read another 207 issues of this idea, but for a few months it could be a nice little book."
