BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS
This comic collects the first three issues, with Mark Millar scripting and John Romita Jr. drawing. This caught my eye immediately, since the catchy cover by Romita is gripping and tense, and Millar has produced some fine stories in the past. The cover doesn’t denote that it’s for mature audiences, which it should. The story is (mostly) realistic and unapologetic. The morally uncertain main character pulls you forward, as he tries to figure out what being a REAL superhero is, and slowly realizes it is not as black-and-white as it appears. Yes, this is an origin comic, but one with a neat twist, with no compromise. If you like heavier material, this is an great book all around; the story will grab you and not let go. And did I mention the fantastic art?
