Never before have I been so pleased with a series that, two issues in, nothing has happened. In these Prelude issues, it's the calm before the storm; a moment to gather strength, reflect on the past, and prepare for the future.
The first issue, narrated by Xavier, retold the Professor's first encounter with Scott, a conflicted kid who grew into a man Xavier could be proud of. Standing on the verge of destruction, the founder of the X-men stands beside his chosen leader, as a father supports his son.
This second issue is narrated by Magneto, and delves into his childhood in Germany. Focusing on his father, a war hero condemned based on his faith; we learn Magneto's true respect for Psyclops.
We're halfway through the Prelude issues, and I still have no clue what SCHISM is about. All I know is it is going to be big, and Psyclops is at the center of this crisis. Whether or not you are down for the event, pick up this series if you have ever been an X-men fan, or if you have daddy issues.
