Hey Kids! What If? Earth Prime was a version of Apokolips? If polybags can come back, why not grim and gritty? It's not as nifty as Absolute Batman, but it's not very far from it. These early Absolute books seem to really know how to present the illusion of change. It's not like the editors at DC don't know that we've seen different versions of all of this before. It just appears like they are really trying to do something different...enough. It's a strong start, even if the "S" symbol doesn't turn into a Kryptonian Battle Axe/Uni-tool. Highly recommended for those who must have the same thing that everybody wants at once, anyone interested in the future of DC Comics because it's a 2 year publishing plan, and fans of the Omega Men.
