Amazing Spider-Man #549 (2004)

$3.99
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by marc guggenheim Pencils & cover by salvador larroca

Saddle-up spider–fans as the thrillingly thrice-monthly adventures continue! In this issue, meet the villain from the fifth spider-man movie today! Marc (wolverine, blade) guggenheim and salvador (newuniversal, uncanny x-men) larroca bring you the next great spidey villain... Menace! But that's not all! The mysterious jackpot makes her "brand new day-debut!” Plus the mystery of the spider-tracer killer deepens. Not nearly 'nuff said!

"There’s something really weird about Sal Larroca’s art on this. It’s like he’d draw a page with a nice sharp pencil, which would dull after too much use, but he’d start the next page without sharpening his pencil again. So you get some nice, crisp pages mixed with unbelievably murky and grainy pages. It’s a little weird. Luckily, the clever writing and fun dialogue by Marc Guggenheim steady the book between rough patches, introducing new allies ( NY’s registered hero Jackpot, new Bugle owner Dexter Bennett) and new enemies (Goblin-themed ‘Menace’, new Bugle owner Dexter Bennett) while giving us some very neat Spidey scenes. A definite improvement over last arc."
