An alien invasion hits New York City and the only one who can stop it is…Spider-Man?! But that's far from all you'll find here - a revelation from the past puts Peter Parker's job, relationships, and whole life in jeopardy! And if even that's not enough, you'll see a new roommate, new love interests - and a new villain! Spider-Man goes back to basics courtesy of Nick Spencer (SECRET EMPIRE, SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN) and the Marvel debut of RYAN OTTLEY (Invincible)! Rated T
Date Available: 07/11/2018
BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

First-This doesn't exist w/out Steve Ditko. For nearly three years, he drew ASM. The world was better for it, and better with him in it. R.I.P.

Second-Had your fill of Spidey feeling the least bit good? Those days are done. Nick Spencer takes a... trip in a way to see how things used to be by basically circling back to them? I realize there's an easier way to say that, but that's the title of the story and I don't want to give it away.

Suffice to say, this was great. Welcome aboard Ryan Ottley, who brings a fresh energy, and a fun cartooning to some heady emotional stuff. It's not all downer-town, because this is also super-heroics 101, colorful, frenetic, and fantastical. There's even an inspired way to get some Invincible level gore into a fully friendly book. Man, can that guy draw people covered in chunks of living things.

Third- Had a disappointed feeling from how things played out in some recent big books? Some ceremony-type books? Bats, Cats, Metal Men w/ Phasey Fillies? Looking for love in all the wrong places? You may want to pick up this book. Just sayin'.

Fourth-There are some pages in here I'm sure are drawn by Humberto Ramos, but couldn't find any credit for them. Sneaky. Deliberate.

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
