I love a good alternate reality storyline and so when the Corps came out, I was all in. After reading issue 1, I had some problems. First, the lineage of Captain America is filled with numerous men (and women) who have taken on the mantle of the Captain America. Characters like the Patriot and the Spirit of '76 helped fill the gap during Steve Rogers absence. So how did we end up with young Steve Rogers, Bucky/Cap, American Dream, US Agent, and this new Commander A? Now don't get me wrong, I always liked American Dream from the old Marvel Next Universe but why couldn't we have gotten Cap's old girlfriend Bernie the time she dressed up like Cap. Plus do we need to see Bucky/Cap so soon after his death? Kinda cheapens the moment. However, issue 2 is beginning to win me back. The appearances of the Americommando and two new characters in the shape of Bright Star and Broad Stripe are helping. Dare I hope that our heroes might meet up with the commie
busting soon to be insane Captain America of the 1950's, Green Suited Falcon, or Steve Rogers-Nomad before our 5 issues are up? And where is Jack Flag and Free Spirit? C'mon Stern, you know your Captain Americas, I dare you to dazzle me.
