Batman to basics is the primary vibe of post-#1000 Detective Comics. This story arc has a very "No Man's Land" feeling, which will please those of you who have grown weary of Batman dreaming. Personally, the only guys' dreams I ever want to look at are Akira Kurosawas'. Strangely, both the books (Batman and Detective) present an extraordinarily complete version of the Dark Knight. It's okay to like both. Star Trek fans can get along with Star Wars nerds. You can have both space laser swords and troublesome space pompom pets. Mostly because neither is real. Highly recommended for Batman fans, both old and new, and anybody that misses Doug Moench and Don Newton.

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
