Is there a goal here beyond destruction? Will Batman emerge stronger...or with a mortal wound at the exact moment that his most dangerous challenge yet is on the horizon in next month's DETECTIVE COMICS #1000? RATED T

BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

Well...that took a turn.

It looks like Fight Club 3 has competition for the Fight Clubbiest book out this week. Peek inside the cowl (that beautifully drawn Doug Mahnke cowl) and find the menace that has been hunting Bruce and killing his allies. He's got access to the Batcave. He knows how close Bruce came to dying his first night as Batman. He has the magical ability to have pearls flying consistently in no fewer than 5 panels when gravity must have kicked in.

Isn't that curious?

Peter Tomasi's pre #1000 epic was just the shot in the arm needed to amp people up about Detective Comics. Let's hope they enjoy their endings with a twist.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
