BONUS REVIEW by BRIAN FISHER

I don't quite know the purpose of this two issue series. The story is pretty standard. The only difference from the regular Ex Machina series I can glean is that it seems to be more about the Great Machine than Mitchell Hundred, mayor of New York. It seems that during his early years as a super hero, Mitchell was recorded using his powers and an accident caused an audio expert to gain opposite powers to the Great Machine. Where GM can control machinery with the sound of his voice, this guy can control animals. Weird, huh? So it seems now that GM has an arch-nemesis. Aside from the fact that this story could just have easily occurred in the regular series, it was a fairly solid, albeit odd story. 7 Grahams

Wow! This thing was amazing! A perfect introduction to the world of Ex Machina, while also a compelling flashback story for long-time readers. Creator Brian Vaughn teams with "Tom Strong" artist Chris Sprouse for a 2-parter that tells a tale of New York Mayor Mitchell Hundred's early days as a superhero, and also introduces his much talked-about nemesis Pherson. Somehow better than the already great regular series, this is a must-buy for fans of... well, comics basically. 10 Grahams
