VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
by Brendan Deneen & Paul Green
America's beloved sci-fi hero is back in a brand new ongoing series, based on Alex Raymond's original ideas but with a modernized twist for the 21st century! CIA Agent Dale Arden draws a reluctant Flash Gordon back into the world of espionage to track down the allegedly insane Hans Zarkov — who's been accused of creating a weapon of mass destruction. Elsewhere in the universe, Ming the "Merciful's" tyrannical shadow looms over Mongo, where an impending civil war is escalating!

BONUS REVIEW by JIMMY HAYES

I was all ready predisposed to like this book, considering I'm a huge Flash Gordon fan, BUT I had NO IDEA that a I'd love it this much!!! If this is any indication of the quality of their books, you can expect big things from up and coming publisher Ardden Entertainment. Remember when comics were NOT written for the sole purpose of being collected in trade paperbacks? If you do, then you'll love Flash Gordon. It delivers a fantastic COMPLETE story in one issue, yet ends on a cliffhanger that leaves you begging for the next issue. My favorite thing about it is that it's a modern re-telling of the classic take with new twists and turns and NO trendy, pop-culture references that'll be out of date in 5 years(Ultimates, anyone?). Although this comic is NOT a re-hash of the recent show on the Sci-Fi channel or the classic 1980 film, you'll have a lot more fun reading the comic if you have the Queen song on in the backgournd. The return of the Saviour of the Universe gets 10 out of 10 Grahams!
I give it 10 out of 10 Grahams
