This current Hawkman series is a great example of the solid storytelling that used to be the norm, and is now far more difficult to find in standard super-heroic fare. The DC universe is about to pull it's 5th G, which is really not many more a G than Maverick can stand before passing out and getting his wingman killed. Carter Hall however, has seen more G's than the average envelope being given to a corrupt Chicago Alderman. The best part is, none of all that matters. It's just a fun story with Atom, Adam Strange, and a great sequence with Mean Hawkman fighting Giant Hawkman. Both solidly written and well drawn, this is consistently a book worth checking out. Highly recommended for fans of any of the above mentioned characters, fans of Metal, and anybody who's happy to see Hawkman whipping a mace around because that's how Dad did it, that's the way America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far. I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
