VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by GREG PAK & FRED VAN LENTE Penciled by KHOI PHAM Cover by ART ADAMS

"Spinning off two of the most entertaining characters from a largely forgettable World War Hulk tie-in, Herc and Amadeus Cho are here to have some decidedly unique adventures. The closest comparison I can think to their dynamic is to take All-Star Batman and Robin, but minus all the Sin City stuff. It’s antagonistic camaraderie. And overall, it’s pretty fun. The real drawback is the uneven artwork from Khoi Pham. It’s a style that’s equal parts Pete Woods and Travis Charest, but not the good parts. There’s a lot of the ‘I don’t want to use a ruler or circle template’ that makes some Pete Wood panels hurt your eyes. There’s also a lot of ‘tons of little lines on a face’ stuff that Charest did in his early days. It really boils down to the problem a lot of Marvel and DC books have these days: producing too many books at once means guys that could use a few more years polishing their craft in one-shots and mini-series are instead getting big launches and spotlight events. Pham’s a good artist… for 2009. Unfortunately, it’s 2007 and he’s a little too raw for this book."
