Mighty Avengers #7 (2006)

$5.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS Penciled by MARK BAGLEY Cover by FRANK CHO
The Ultimate Spider-Man super-team of Bendis and Bagley reunite and just in time for the Avengers’ biggest problem ever!!! A Venom virus hits the city of New York!! A Venom virus!! The entire city of New York turns symbiote. Plus, Wonder Man gets a much needed makeover. All this and Tony Stark gets himself a green-skinned present in a body bag.

"Hey Mighty Avengers letterer Dave Lanphear, for next time? Try not to have important caption boxes consist of tiny, light green letters on a yellow background. It’s ridiculously difficult to read. As for the actual STORY in this issue, though, it’s actual a pretty good read. Despite the Venom-y cover image, the bulk of this issue concerns the Spider-Woman/Elektra-Skrull plot that’s been intermittently winding its way through Bendis’ Avengers books. Jessica Drew and Tony Stark hash-out the details of “Are you a Skrull, and if not how can we stop the Skrulls?” which will be playing out in every other Marvel book soon enough. And, if this issue is any indication, will actually be pretty fun. A lot less fun is the inevitable Venom plot, which pops up just close enough to the end to be considered ‘shoe-horned’. Fun while it lasts, this issue is talky, but compelling and necessary for those looking forward to Secret Invasion. Oh, and I totally think Wonder Man’s a Skrull. Just putting it out there."
