BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

JMS (Amazing Spider-Man, Midnight Nation, Rising Stars) adds another book to his shared universe published by AWA Upshot with Moths. The premise- certain people are infected with a virus that can give them powers. They choose to activate the virus. After activation, they will live for six months, and should pursue being the best super-powered version of themselves.

Not a new concept in comics (Strikeforce Morituri), and not entirely out of his own comic wheelhouse (Rising Stars has this, but w/out the choice). From a story perspective, the book works. It is utterly dragged down by the painted art of Mike Choi which seems to be done over photographs. It feels incomplete and unsatisfactory, like an 80's indy painted book. (Boy we're seeing a lot of bad indy whose time has passed in books lately.) The story gets an seven. The art gets a two. That makes the whole thing a miss.

I give it 4 out of 10 Grahams
