Plunge #5

Plunge #5

$3.99
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Joe Hill
(A) Stuart Immonen
(CA) Jeremy Wilson
The crew of the Derleth have been generous hosts. They've given Moriah, Bill, Gage, and the rest of the MacReady's crew several incredible gifts. They've solved problems humanity has grappled with for ages, shown us ways to power the entire world for generations. And they're offering even more. All they want is one teensy-weensy little favor in return from the MacReady's crew: open the hatch.
Date Available: 06/17/2020
BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

Plunge continues to be the best of the Hill House books. Getting Stuart Immonen to come out of retirement to do your interiors is the equivalent of getting Drew Struzan to come out of retirement to do your movie poster. Even if he's lost a step, and that's an if if ever an if were, he's so far ahead of the rest of the pack that they'll never catch up. The crew of the MacReady are reduced in number, again, as our visitor's reveal their larger plan by way of Walkman. Creepy, giddy, world saving fun, without a drop of actual fun to be had.

REFERENCE RECAP: MacReady (ship) is named after the Kurt Russell character in 'The Thing'.

Martin Brimley is a combo of Charles Martin Smith from CEO3K and Wilfred Brimley of The Thing.

LaCome is the namesake of the French scientist from CEO3K, and his appearance is based on Charles Martin Smith in same.

Clark is the namesake of the dog handler in The Thing. Watch Clark.

Moriah MAY be the wind. Historical context suggests they called the wind Mariah, but the texts are regressive.

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
