Protector #1 has been added to your cart.
"TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT THIS WEEK!!!" he yelled into the void.
'Protector' is a North American tale in post American times. The year is 3241. The great lakes are not as great as they used to be. Northern Canada is no longer an arctic hellscape. Instead, a lush forest has taken its place after global warming has finished the job.
Here, we find slave owners and geese keepers, gods and human enough monsters, angels and demons. Mixed in with all of those, apparently, are aliens.
There's a good deal of visual storytelling, and the jargon used by the characters should be easy enough to translate into the terms of today. The art makes an impact, a slamming one, and is why we're here today. Artyom Trakhanov does a stupendous job of mixing Usagi Yojimbo and Cowboy/Ninja/Viking. There's a samurai feel added to native elements working for more a an Aztec or Mayan vibe. Some Mignolaesque compositions seal the deal. He's got a LOT going on. Fans of Daniel Warren Johnson, James Stokoe, Stan Sakai, and Mike Mignola, take note now- you want this book.
What's it all about, Alfie? Can't tell you yet. They don't give away the farm in the first issue. You'll get plenty of supplemental world building material in the back to get you rolling on your own theories.
