Shortly after the birth of the Empire, Darth Vader master of combat, terror of his enemies, continues his purge of the Jedi Knights on a planet where his Jedi prey are revered. Amidst a planetwide insurgency, the Dark Lord must snuff out one surviving Jedi, as well as kill the fire of rebellion in the native populace. All will bow to the power of Vader and the Galactic Empire!
* Alexander Freed of The Old Republic writes Darth Vader!
* Follows the events of Revenge of the Sith.

BONUS REVIEW by Gary Owens

Darth Vader has a vast, untapped potential for a tragic and brutal storyline, matching perhaps the best bitter villains of all time, from The Godfather to Shakespeare’s Titus, though, indeed, he must be redeemable if he is to fulfill his Star Wars legacy. It’s a twisted path Lucas has planted, and the PG movies don’t do justice to this character’s journey, but stories like this definitely begin to thread together his conflicting aspects. As to the story, Darth’s mission here is straight-forward, which is to eliminate 3 Jedi from a planet, and bring it under the Emperor’s rule. Simple in theory, but more difficult in execution, as Darth’s confrontational style bears evident problems. An aspect I enjoy about Dark Horse’s Star Wars is that it has always showed the cunning in the Sith, and this one hints at being no exception. I look forward to next issue’s final chapter, taking us that much closer to the original Star Wars original trilogy. I can’t wait to see the transition.

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
