Critically acclaimed and bestselling author Brian Azzarello (Batman: Damned) and Eisner Award-winning art legend Alex Maleev (Batman: No Man’s Land) collaborate for the first time in this three-issue, oversize, Prestige plus format Suicide Squad series pitting Red Hood, Harley Quinn, Firefly, and more of DC’s most villainous criminals against The Joker. When Task Force X’s Amanda Waller sets her sights on Batman’s greatest foe, she enlists the Dark Knight’s former partner Jason Todd to track down the Clown Prince of Crime and put an end to his mad reign of terror.

BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

The 'deep, dark, brooding, ...adult' Black Label books from DC give all the best of freedom of the Elseworlds books combined with all the profanity and violence that often plays as incredibly juvenile under the label of 'Mature'. The creative teams can do almost anything they want (all characters in this book have pants on), and often that 'freedom' ends up with a result that is less creatively successful than it might have been with more restraints put on them.

Get Joker starts off heavily in the 'groan' category with Jason Todd in prison, getting the required visit from Amanda Waller, and we've all been there a lot in the last 6 years, haven't we?

BUT....given that its not in any proper continuity, and given that means anything can happen to the characters on the team, Brian Azzarello turns this into an offensively fun piece of nastiness seemingly guaranteed to anger DC purists over how their favorite D lister is being used. Let's just say this isn't your father's Wild Dog.

It looks exactly like a later Alex Maleev book would look, without the benefit of him coloring his own work. If you liked his work on, well, anything, you'll probably like this too.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
